Brooke Schaefer lives in central Indiana on a small farm with her husband, four children, and a menagerie of animals. During nursing school she accidently shadowed in the wrong unit, and fell in love with the Neonatal Intensive Care. She then became a NICU nurse where she stayed for ten years. She went on to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Upon graduating, she began her work running CHOICE/Legacy, a treatment program for pregnant and postpartum woman with substance use disorders. This program has grown since 2015 to become one of the most successful treatment programs in Indiana, helping woman and babies in need. She is the founder of Lily Pond, a patient supply program offering essential items to CHOICE patients. Brooke continues to provide direct patient care, in partnership with OB/GYN providers, in the locations that CHOICE serves. She is currently the Director of Perinatal Substance Use Disorder Treatment Programs for Community Health Network in Central Indiana.
