Emily A. Hennessy is Associate Director of Biostatistics at the Recovery Research Institute (RRI) and a Member of the Faculty with Harvard Medical School. Dr. Hennessy was a Fulbright Scholar to Norway where she completed an M.Phil. in Health Promotion and focused on adolescent well-being. She completed her Ph.D. in Community Research and Action at Vanderbilt University and her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Connecticut in the Systematic Health Action Research Program Lab. Dr. Hennessy’s research examines factors associated with health behavior change among adolescents. Her primary area of research, adolescent addiction treatment and recovery, is currently funded by a career development award (K01) from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. In this study, she has piloted and adapted a visual reflection tool, social identity mapping, for youth. She is now testing its predictive utility and interaction of recovery capital for longitudinal recovery outcomes among youth and young adults. She is the founder and Chair of the new Substance Use Treatment and Recovery Campbell Collaboration Review group, is the Associate Editor of Addiction in Adolescents, a new specialty section of Frontiers in Adolescent Medicine, and serves on the Editorial Board of Addiction Research & Theory.
