Session Description: Many of us who work in behavioral health have firsthand experiences with substance use disorders, mental health, or other process addictions. Peer-review data on the management of relapse within the behavioral healthcare workforce is lacking. Increasing pressures within our system has led to a dramatic increase in burnout and compassion fatigue, which can exacerbate potential relapse if not addressed. In this presentation we will investigate how behavioral health professionals can benefit from identifying and healing their own challenges.
Learning Objectives:
After this activity participants should be able to
Discuss what to include in a relapse identification prevention and intervention protocol for themselves and their clients
Review the relationship between burnout, compassion fatigue, relapse and how attitudes, judgments and bias contribute to the wellbeing of the individual and practice.
Describe how to create an intervention, support and monitoring model for themselves and other team members
