Dr. Kaisha A. Thomas is dually licensed in the State of Florida as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and holds certification as a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP). Additionally, Dr. Thomas has been awarded credentials by the National Board for Certified Counselors as both a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC) and the National Board of Forensic Evaluators as a Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator (CFMHE).
Dr. Thomas has over 20 years of experience in behavioral health and substance use and has extensive training in Older populations, Trauma Informed care, Brief Solution-Focused systemic therapy, Client Directed Outcome Informed philosophies, Critical Incident Stress Management, organizational systems and program management.
Dr. Thomas earned her undergraduate degree in Dance from the Juilliard School of Performing Arts, a Master of Science degree in Dance and Movement Therapy from Hunter College, with a specialization in Aging and Mental Health, another Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling and her Ph.D., in Marriage and Family Therapy, both from Nova Southeastern University, with a specialization in Health Care Systems and Medical Family Therapy. She is a Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, a Florida State approved supervisor and meets State of Florida requirements to provide Hypnotherapy and treat sexual offenders. Dr. Thomas is a published author in the field and a past member of the Child Abuse Death Review State committee.
